At this point, we could tell you about our proven expertise, awards we have won, numerous specialist publications, lectures or our more than 3,000 trademark applications. But we would rather tell you why our law firm has an egg in its logo.
The egg of Columbus
Legend has it that Christopher Columbus was invited to a festive banquet after his first voyage to America in 1493. A convivial evening was spent until someone pointedly remarked that anyone could have discovered America if only they had sailed far enough west. Columbus then challenged those present to place a boiled egg on the table so that it remained upside down. The guests failed in turn and it was agreed that this was impossible. Columbus, however, took the egg and pressed its underside in so that it remained on the table. When the others protested that anyone could have done it, Columbus replied: “The difference, gentlemen, is that you could have done it, but I did!
Today, the egg of Columbus symbolizes an amazingly simple solution to a seemingly unsolvable problem. And because we as lawyers are problem solvers, this is exactly what we want to offer: Smart, pragmatic solutions to your problems in the areas of intellectual property, media and competition.
